John Michael McFarlane (Johnny)
July 3rd, 1959 – December 15th, 2022
John Michael McFarlane, “Johnny” 63 of Victoria Harbour Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2022. He was born in Toronto on July 3rd, 1959, a son of George McFarlane and the late Terry McFarlane. John was loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Karen of 38 years. Beloved and cherished father of Jamie, Emily, and Will McFarlane. His children were his world as he was an extraordinary father.
John was a loving brother to George (Geordie) McFarlane (Lee-Anne) and his sister Leanne McFarlane Tennant (Len), and Daryl Bettles (Tracey) and Gary Matheson (Vee). He will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Kathy Moore (Derrick) and Laurie Kerr. John will be forever remembered by all his nieces and nephews; Molly (Matthew), Austin (Keating), Tommy, Darryl (Erin), Bryan (Stephanie), Hollie (Brandon), Amy (Luke), Lyndsay (Cameron), (Elliotte, Colton, Sawyer), Carly (Lucus), Grandnieces; Glory and Mackenzie and Grand Pets; Matilda and Walter White. He was adored by his late father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim, and June Kerr. John will be greatly missed by his entire family and dear close friends.
John lived a life that was led with kindness, love, and laughter. He was devoted to his family, as he generously shared his time and his infinite wisdom. He found humour in every situation to make others laugh and put them at ease. John also made each person he knew feel so important to him by showing his genuine love and compassion.
John enjoyed a successful and meaningful career. After completing his Masters Degree in Criminology, he became a dedicated and highly respected employee and then Manager with the Ministry of Correctional Services/Solicitor General for three decades.
John and Karen raised their three wonderful children in North Bay on Trout Lake and had recently settled in Victoria Harbour. John was an avid reader, athlete, and outdoorsman who enjoyed time on the water on Trout Lake, at the cottage and on Georgian Bay. He had a strong and valiant spirit. His contagious laugh, witty sense of humour and incredible intelligence will be missed by all. John worked hard to address his health challenges with courage and bravery. He will be profoundly missed and remembered with respect, dignity, and love by his family. John made the world a better place and no words can express how deeply he will be missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Simcoe Funeral Home 38 James Street E. Orillia, Ontario L3V 1L1 on Wednesday December 21st, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
