John Lorne Regehr 1943 2021

Obituary of John Lorne Regehr
John was born at the Linden Nursing Home on November 29, 1943. He was the fourth child of David and Frances Regehr.
John went away to work on the oil rigs when he was quite young and quickly moved up to the position of driller. After John and Gwen were married and they had their first daughter, Kim, they moved to Coronation where their second daughter, Melanie was born. Shortly after that they returned to the family farm at Swalwell where their youngest daughter Shelley was born. John and Gwen worked very hard, and they were able to purchase the family farm where they resided until they moved to Sundre in 1987. It was always a dream of John’s to leave the farm and venture west. He loved the mountain views and the change of lifestyle. It was then that he found his love of driving a semi-truck, which he continued until his health wouldn’t allow him to. He gained many new friends with his most recent job, guard at the RCMP station in Sundre.
The family spent many years traveling on the rodeo trail and John was with his daughters every step, taking as much enjoyment in their accomplishments as they did. John always had a thirst for knowledge. He strived to learn anything and everything he could. He completed online courses, received his boilers license, and attended business courses at SAIT. He was even enrolled in an upcoming online course to be completed in the new year.
John’s greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He always had a strong passion for the western lifestyle, rodeo, and his beloved Calgary Flames. His roots ran deep in the agriculture community, a passion that has been passed on down throughout his children and granddaughters. Family was always important, and John was lucky enough to be surrounded by a large family that loved him dearly.
John is survived by his soulmate of 56 years, Gwen – daughter Kim, her husband Mike their 2 daughters Emilee and Hannah – daughter Melanie and her 2 sons Korbin and Jared & daughter Shelley, her husband Brian and their daughter Katelyn. His sisters Elaine (Leonard), Joyce (Keith), Bev (Ken) and brother Murray (Lynn) and 9 very special nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, David and Frances – sisters Caroline, Patricia and Helen – brother Bobby – Parents-in-law Elgin and Eleanore Huntley – sister-in-law Anita Berreth and niece Shannon Berreth.
