John passed away on October 30, 2022, in Quebec as the result of a car accident. It was his 66th birthday.
Beloved son of Rose (nee Toner) and the late Martin McGale. John is survived by his brother Dan, and sister Deborah and predeceased by his brother Al and sister Kathy. He also leaves behind two nieces Karen and Jackie, and two nephews Allan and Iain.
John played in local bands including Axle, Calico Silver and Nickel in the greater North Bay, Ontario area until relocating to Montreal to join Offenbach in the late seventies. He became recognized as a pioneer in the Quebec music industry for his involvement with Offenbach primarily as a guitar player and songwriter. John was enshrined in the North Bay Musicians and Entertainers Hall of Recognition in 2017.
Cremation has taken place and a private celebration for family will be held. Meanwhile, The Gathering of Musicians have organized a tribute on Saturday, November 12 at Partners in North Bay.
Cancer has impacted several generations of the McGale family and therefore donations in memory of John to the Cancer Society will gratefully be acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
