John Edwin Whiteside – It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the unexpected and peaceful passing of Ed on Monday, July 4th, 2022. Ed was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland April 22nd, 1938. Deeply mourned by Iris, his wife of 60 years, and their children David (Debbie), Neil (Dawn) and Joanne (Jim). Treasured Grandpa of Kyle, Nicole, Lily, Ella, Andy, Josh, Lucas and William. Ed, Iris and family bravely immigrated to Canada in 1972 to start a new life, thereafter they spent the next 47 years in Brampton, and most recently in Lindsay, Ontario. Following a long successful career in the construction industry, Ed and his loving companion/canine assistant Rufus dedicated many volunteer hours with the Therapeutic Paws of Canada. His other interests included cycling, badminton, travelling and fine scotch. The family will be having a private ceremony in Lindsay, followed by a celebration of life in the Brampton area at a later date. Details will be shared with friends and family. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed’s name to Therapeutic Paws of Canada through Mackey Funeral Home via cheque or online at www.mackeys.ca If people wish to donate specifically to the Brampton Team of Therapeutic Paws of Canada instead of the National Office, they should specify the Brampton Team in the message area.

Death notice for the town of: Lindsay, Province: Ontario
Dear Iris and family.
What a shock to hear Ed passed away. He and I were born in the same year. I have so many good memories of you and him from the many years we played Badminton together. I had no idea you had moved to Lindsey and that Ed wasn’t well. I am thankful though to hear about it through players who still keep in touch.
Iris, please accept my sincere Sympathy. My heart goes out to you all.
Val Kadach and daughter Ute.
