It is with great sadness
the family announces the passing of John Wayne Gamble of Fredericton,
NB, husband of Betty (Webber) Gamble, which occurred on Thursday
February 24, 2022. Married for 53 years to Betty, his beauty
Queen, Wayne was the only child of late John and Evelyn Gamble, born
Feb 5th, 1945.
Wayne will be remembered
as a kind and loving father whose generosity knew no
boundaries. He was a father figure to many aspiring youth
and helped shape and guide several others on his life
journey.
Wayne’s desire
for entrepreneurship was evident in his many ventures throughout the
years. From his first business, Video Country to his passion
for hockey as the Director of Operations with the Fredericton
Canadiens and the many others in between. He was a respected
member of the Fredericton Community and made sure to give back when he
could. A proud city councilor, a founding member of
Fredericton Sports Investment and an integral part of Portage NB that
helps rehabilitate youths with addictions. Wayne also became an
auctioneer so he could volunteer whenever asked to support as many
charities as he could. Lifelong relationships were forged and
cherished by so many that he
touched.
Of all of his
accomplishments Wayne had in his life his greatest joy was the love
and pride he had for his grandchildren, from watching them play sports
to family meals and of course his never-ending reminders that they
were all beautiful and handsome because of him! He will miss
them dearly.
Wayne is survived by his
wife Elizabeth (Betty) Gamble, son Ryan (Sarah) and daughter Bridget
(Bram). He was very proud of his children and enjoyed
watching them grow into strong successful adults. He was blessed with
5 beautiful grandchildren, Brooke & Bailey (Bridget) and
Grayson, Reese and Riley (Ryan). They will miss their grampy
deeply.
A special thank you to
all of dads in home care givers especially Ramona who he had a very
special bond with as well as Craig (nephew) who were by his side until
the very end. Uncle Ricky and Aunt Sheila no words can
express our appreciation and love for all of your support over the
years. Thank you to Dr Pond and Dr MacDonald and the NB Extra Mural
staff (Kelly) for all of your care and support these last few
months/weeks.
A visitation will be
held Tuesday March 1st from 1-4pm at Bishops
Funeral Home and Crematorium, with current Covid-19 protocols being
followed. In keeping with Wayne’s wishes there will be no
funeral but rather a closed celebration for
family.
Donations in
Wayne’s memory can be made to Diabetes Canada, Heart
& Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of
choice.
Bishop’s
Funeral Home & Crematorium 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton have
been entrusted with the arrangements.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of John Wayne Gamble 1945 2022..
