BALL, John Rae
April 22, 1931 – January 10/11, 2022
Passed away at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home in Fonthill on Monday/Tuesday, January 10/11, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by Gladys (nee Trimble 2018), his beloved wife of 61 years. Survived by his recent partner Marjorie Doddridge. Lovingly remembered by his sons Philip (Kerry McKee), Brent (Holly Meyer) and his daughter, Jennifer (William Cooper). Proud grandfather of Brian Ball (Amy), Michelle Ball, Shannon Cooper, Kyle Ball, Emma Fernandes (Adam), Eric Cooper and Bradley Ball. Great grandfather of Kaylee and Madison Ball. He is survived by his sister Evelyn Walker.
Rae was born in Uxbridge, Ontario and moved to Fonthill in 1956 to teach at Pelham High School. He remained in Fonthill for the rest of his life and served as a vice-principle at several schools in the region. An avid reader, Rae was fortunate to be in good health until recently, which allowed him to tend to his beautiful iris garden. Family genealogy was another of his interests during retirement with trips to the national archives and entering extensive family records in Wikitree. Rae enjoyed dining at Keith’s or other local restaurants with his extended family and friends. A man of faith, he offered many hours of support to the Free Methodist Church in St. Catharine’s, being the driving force to open the childcare center there, now widely used by the community.
Dad was the most loving, generous and supportive father, grandfather and great-grandfather that you could ask for and we will miss him dearly.
We would sincerely like to thank the caregivers at Lookout Ridge for their compassionate care of our father.
A celebration of Rae’s life will be held at a later date. To plant a tree in memory of Rae Ball, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.

Death notice for the town of: FONTHILL, Province: Ontario
Uncle Rae was my favourite uncle. All of our cousins would scramble to sit beside him when we played board games because he was so much fun. He was very thoughtful and well spoken and would always engage the young folk in conversation. Our condolences to Philip and Kerry, Brent and Holly and Jennifer and Will, as well as all the grandchildren. ~ Bonnie and Bill
