1963 – 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Joseph Yacuik announce his passing on January 2, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.
John was born March 12, 1963 in Kenora, moving at a young age to Thunder Bay with his family. John worked 40 years for Resolute Forest Products, retiring on May 1, 2021 as a working foreman on #5 paper machine. John held many roles with the Local 257 Union, including President for many years. John loved to camp, fish, and hunt, enjoying his summers with his family at various lakes.
John is survived by his children Logan; Breanna (Austin); mother of Johns children Lori Yacuik; mother and father Daele & Ken McMillan; brother Robert (Donna); sister Sandra Hallada (John); uncle Brett Cowie (Shereen); aunt Jean Cowie; niece & nephew Stephanie & Cody Lenton; and numerous cousins.
Predeceased by son Ryan Yacuik, uncle Lorne Cowie, and Grandmother Eileen Cowie.
The family would like to thank the caring nurses and doctors at the TBRHSC.
At Johns request no service to be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made through Simpler Times.
Should friends so desire in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in John’s memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
