We are sorry to say Jackie passed away on May 28th, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Jack was a long shoreman for 32 years on the waterfront as a crane operator and welder by trade. He was also a self taught carpenter who built his own home. He was an excellent singer and guitar player. He grew up in L’Ardoise with sisters, Helen, Catherine, Sandra and brothers, Davey and Nicki.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; Daughters, Denise (George Tanner); Anne (David Bennett); Cory (Martin Kaye); Son, John (Arik); Annette (Len MacKay); Jimmy Caines; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Doucette and parents, Ned and Mary Margaret(Poirier)Pottie; as well as sisters, Phyllis Leon (Freddie); Mary (George McInnis); brother, Dennie (Diane).
Special thanks to all who cared for Jackie throughout his illness; especially the last 6 years at Dialysis.
Funeral will be held at Holy Guardian Angels Parish, L’Ardoise at 11am, Friday June 3, 2022; with Father John Yake officiating. Reception to follow in the Community Centre. Donations may be made to the Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery Fund.
