John Jack Joseph Carter 23 Jun 2022

John Joseph Carter passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, June 23rd, at Losier Hall.
Jack was the 3rd of 12 children, born May 24th, 1936 to Raymond and Annie (Leonard) Carter. He was married to Lillian (St. Pierre) for 55 years and was predeceased by her in 2013. He was also predeceased by an infant son, Steven Gerard, and granddaughter Jennifer.
Jack and his siblings spent their childhood in Kouchibouguac and later relocated to Chatham. His career began as a very young man, as did his marriage, with the children coming soon after. Like his father Jack spent much of his career in the employ of NB Power. As the years past, he decided that he would prefer to invest in himself and his quality of family life. He opened his own instrumentation business and successfully ran it until semi-retirement was an attractive option. While semi-retired, Jack always kept busy working on construction projects with the pipe fitters union, tending to his land, travelling with Lil, and enjoying his grandchildren.
Jack will be missed by his 3 children in Miramichi; Joey (Ellie), Karen (Jim), Jeff (Twila), and his daughter, Joanne who lives in the Cayman Islands. Jack loved children and none more than his grandchildren, Meghan (Darren), Steven (Krissy), Katie (Ryan), Michael, Dylan, and Kyren. They brought sunshine into his and Lil’s world and they enjoyed watching them grow into the fine young adults they’ve all become. Jack is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Mollie, Norah, and John. He felt blessed to have them in his life and chatting about their antics and personalities always brought a smile to his face.
Jack is one of 12 children. He is survived by 7 siblings and predeceased by 4. His surviving siblings are Roy, Frank, Helen, Donna, Maureen, Ron, and Ray. He is predeceased by Chris, Joan, Billy, and Julie. Jack is also survived by one brother-in-law, Romeo and predeceased by brother-in-law, Charlie, and sister-in-law Noella.
We are very grateful to the Carter family for always visiting and keeping Jack’s spirits up. We are especially grateful to Roy for calling every day as well as making the weekly drive with Dee Dee to visit.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Basilica on Wednesday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow.
Expressions of sympathy can be made by way of donations to the Diabetes or Parkinson’s Foundations.
