Obituary
Jack passed away peacefully at his most favourite place on earth, Muldrew Lake, on June 15, 2022 in his 88th year.
Raised in Victoria, B.C, Jack maintained his laid back west coast nature everywhere he went as he gracefully accepted every challenge that came his way. Whether you knew him professionally or personally, Jack’s kind nature, subtle humour and deep respect for others no doubt had a positive effect on you.
After graduating from UBC medical school in 1960, Jack trained at Toronto Western and Toronto General hospitals. He then decided to specialize in urology, offering his expertise and kindness to patients and colleagues spanning a 47 year career at Branson, York Finch and Etobicoke (William Osler) hospitals. As a doctor, husband, father and grandfather, he granted many favours yet asked for very few while always remembering to express his gratitude to others.
Jack was as comfortable in a fine restaurant as he was out in the woods; the epitome of a gentleman no matter the surroundings. He loved combining the three important elements of family, friendship and adventure whether skiing the mountains of Europe, sailing the waters of the Caribbean or waterskiing at the cottage.
Jack leaves his indelible love with his family and friends, most especially his wife Kelly, daughters Anne (Ivo), Erin (Scott) and Leslie (Peter), grandchildren Sarah (Zack) Kathryn, Madison and Joel as well as his devoted caregiver, Felix and faithful canine companion Ginger.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Monday July 25th at 1:00 PM, Muskoka Steamships & Discovery Centre, 275 Steamship Bay Road, Gravenhurst. The family would be grateful to receive condolences and memories of Jack via email to rememberingjackward@gmail.com
Should you wish to do so, donations can be made in Jack’s name to “The Friends” organization, where Jack enjoyed many days of activities in recent years.
