Passed away at Hospice Wellington on Thursday, October 6, 2022. He leaves behind his partner Carole Bell, his sister Irene Kay (Bill) of Hamilton, sister-in-law Doris Lantz of MacDonalds Corners, and brother-in-law John Lantz of Guelph; and many nieces and nephews.
John had a long career as a real estate broker in Guelph and KW. An avid sportsman, he had many outings to the hunt camp on Manitoulin Island, the fish camp on the Magnetawan River and the wild turkey quest in Lanark County. John loved to tell stories about growing up in the east end of Hamilton in the 1950’s, the proud son of immigrants from Slovakia. A convert to RVing, he and Carole had many adventures on trips across Canada and the US. There also were many vacations at the family cottage near Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice Wellington or the Guelph Food Bank. Donations can be made at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
