Francis passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in his 90th year. Born to Isabella and Joseph Goodwin on November 17, 1932. Beloved and devoted husband of Colleen for 61 years. Cherished father of Joseph, Cathy & Paul, Victoria, Scott & Julie, Janice, Kelly & Jim, Lynn, and Tracy & John. Much loved brother of Jim, Rita, Tom, Joe, Gerald, Connie and Ralph. Born and raised in Hamilton, Francis was a long-time employee of Life Savers on Cumberland Avenue. Francis was a dedicated parishioner at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, Hamilton and more recently St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stoney Creek. He was a well-known face around his apartment building and the shops of downtown Stoney Creek. Dad found joy in the simple things like a good cribbage game, a hopeful bet on the horses or scratching his lotto tickets. He had a generous heart, an infectious smile and always loved a good laugh. Over the years he enjoyed time with all his family at the beach, around the kitchen table, in front of the Christmas tree, and at any family function. He especially enjoyed his outings with Ralph and Joe. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Abe Szereszewski and Dr. Jacob Szereszewski as well as the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital CCU for their care and kindness. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King Street East (between Rosedale & Cochrane) on Friday September 16 from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church (232 Queenston Rd) on Saturday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice in Francis’ honour.
