It is with sorrow we announce the passing of John Edward MacNeil, Sydney River, on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S.
He was the son of the late Joseph John and Cecilia (Ryan) MacNeil from Big Pond.
Companion of Judy Sheppard, Sydney River.
Cremation has taken place. Burial to follow in Big Pond at a later date.
At this time I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Drs., nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit for their care and compassion shown to John during his month-long stay. Also want to express my gratitude to John Edwards niece, Laurie MacNeil who travelled from Ontario to spend the last few days with him…he knew you were there for him….
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
