John Earl Ross, the husband of the late Cecile Marie (Doucet) Ross formerly of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the age of 84.
Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, on September 17, 1937, he was the son of both the late Raymond and Olive (Curtis) Ross.
John was a Carpenter by trade and his family meant everything to him. He was a dearly beloved husband of 62 years, father of nine children, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was Anglican by faith, and was also a former President of the local chapter of the Gideon Society. John took pride in caring for his community and could always be found in the kitchen cooking many church meals.
John was an entrepreneur for many years, he traveled to many craft shows selling his creations. In his spare time he could be found in his workshop, his handmade wood-works of birdhouses, and hand-painted Christmas creations could be delightfully viewed when driving past the Ross family homestead in Black River Bridge. John spent hours on his laptop, scrolling through Facebook and online shopping. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips to his camp on Otter Brook Road with his brother Raymond and his sons. He enjoyed listening to music and family gatherings.
John is survived by his five daughters: Mona Hachey (Ken) of Miramichi, NB, Norma Fantauzzi (Giulio) of Miramichi, NB, Carol Hay (Ronnie) of Black River Bridge, NB, Catharine McNeill (Kristin) of Christchurch, New Zealand, Sandra Leger (Charlie) of Memramcook, NB; four sons: John Ross Jr. of Florida, USA, James Ross (Kelly) of Black River Bridge, NB, Lester Ross (Shelley) of Napan, NB, and Gary Ross (Sherley) of Calgary, AB; chosen son, Ken Hachey of Miramichi; fourteen grandchildren: Tricia (Brent), Jonathan (Rachel), Bradley, Justin (Ashley), Alex, Holly (Jeff), Bobbielee (Jesse), Danny, Kayla (Ryan), Isabella, Samuel, Elliot, Brandon, Collin; eleven great-grandchildren: Chandler, Landon, Bryce, Presley, Noah, Owen, Alexis, Jayden, Emma, Carter, Brynlee; and three sisters: Ruth Lagacy Matane of QC, Judy (Roderick) Parent of Dalhousie, NB, and Nadine (Jim) Rhodes of Indiana, USA.
