MacDonald, John Douglas, age 87, of Antigonish passed away on
July 20, 2022, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Michael Dan and
Christina (MacInnis) MacDonald.
John Douglas worked for 22 years at St. Martha’s
Hospital in Antigonish. He loved walking everyday and
especially his daily visits to Tim Hortons for a coffee. He also
enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with the ladies at the J.J. Carroll
House. The annual Highland Games was a special treat for him and never
missed them for many years.
He is survived by his sister, Mamie (Bob) Stewart, Quebec
City; nieces Donna and Suzanne Stewart; Paula, Linda, and Wendy
Mortensen; and nephews, Eric and Dana Mortensen.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers,
Donald, Joseph, William, and Francis; his sister Sarah
“Sadie”; nieces, Susan and Karen; and nephew,
Glenn
Visitation will be held Wednesday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home,
135 College Street, Antigonish from 2 to 5pm. Funeral Mass
will be held Thursday at 10:00am in St. Ninian Cathedral, Reverend
Danny MacLennan presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
