With only fond and loving memories to cherish, we the family of John Daye are deeply saddened to announce his passing. John passed away at home surrounded by family.
He leaves to mourn his wife Evelyn; children, Bernice (Clayton), Alonzo (Alisa), step-daughters, Beverly (Benvie) and Juanita (Glenn); grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelsey, Cody, Keisha, Keiondra, Wanda Lee and Jamie; and two great-grandchildren, Colt and Sarayah. He also leaves behind brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
John worked in the woods at the age of 14 with his dad. Then years later he became a cook on the long liner known as the Catalina Trader. From there he worked at the fish plant in Catalina. At the age of 55 the plant closed down. He did odd jobs until the age of 60. He loved out sawing up his wood in the fall, salting fish in the summer and making wood crafts like doll cradles, shelves and anything else that he could make. And he loved to dance, especially doing the jig.
A private visitation has taken place.
