John Clark Tuesday October 4th 2022

Mr. John Edward Clark, age 91 years, a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with daughter Debra and son Victor by his side.
John attended Cornwall Public School and Hillcrest Technical Institute. John then entered the electrical trade where over the years he gained a reputation for the high quality of his craftsmanship and organizational and management skills. John was a member of the I.B.E.W. and would work on and run many major construction projects across Ontario and on the NORAD DEW line installations at the Arctic Circle.
John’s lifelong passion was for being in the outdoors. As a young man he hunted and fished. He loved the rhythms of nature and experiencing animals and birds in their habitat. When not at work John was all about developing the full potential of his properties into beautiful spaces that he could enjoy and share with his family. He built a summer camp at Middle Shebandowan Lake and a beautiful home and country property out at Kakabeka Falls. John and Doreen eventually moved back into Thunder Bay where they both continued their passion for gardening and yard work. John continued to love being active and outdoors up to his passing.
John had a long association with the Thunder Bay Militia. A natural leader, he rose to the rank of regimental sergeant major and chief warrant officer of the Lakehead Service Battalion (R.E.M.E.).
John was also a member of the Kakabeka Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Interested in local issues and persuaded by his neighbours, John served two terms on the Oliver Township Municipal Council in the early 1970s.
John will be missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Debra, son Victor, granddaughters Tara and Kara, grandson Bradley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Doreen, by his parents Victor and Mary, his sister Olive and brother Victor.
Cremation has taken place and John and Doreen will be interred together Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to St. Joseph’s Hospital would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Sargent & Son Funeral Home on Court Street.
