On May 10, 2022, John Chichak passed away peacefully, at the age of 95. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Wayne (Corinne), Deborah (Rod), and Tim (Jean). John was affectionately known as “Dodi” to his loving grandchildren Kristofer (Dana), Melissa (Shane ), Tanner ( Keara), Alexa and Tyler. He enjoyed being a great grandfather to Harper and Carson. John also leaves two sisters, Emily and Leona and four brothers Jack, Morris, Taras and Dennis.
Before retiring, John was a pillar in the garden industry in Edmonton. Greenland was well known and respected by customers and colleagues in the Landscape Alberta Nursery Trade Association. Lennie and John always worked hard, but together they made time to volunteer with the church, community league, LANTA and wherever they were needed. Most of all, they were known for the generosity in their home. The Chichak’s always had food on the table and a drink available, no matter how many or what time guests arrived.
John touched the lives of so many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He will be forever missed.
A special thank you to the relatives and friends who visited and helped care for John. Also, to the dedicated staff at Laurier who helped him so much in the past few years. Your gentle kindness will always be appreciated.
A small family funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church in Sherwood Park. If you wish to attend in person, please contact Deb at 7809020814. All are invited to attend the Funeral Mass virtually by clicking on the livestream link at the top of the obituary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress to help refugee Ukrainians or to Laurier House Strathcona.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of John Chichak 2022..
