SCHOFIELD, John Charles
Passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle of cancer on the evening of Saturday, July 23, 2022, at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener. John was born on December 22, 1946, in Montreal, Quebec. John has been a member of the New Hamburg Community and a resident of Stonecroft.
Beloved husband and bestfriend of Phyllis (Saskie) Schofield, whom he married in 1979. John will be forever missed by his sister Charlotte Jones and husband Allan and their children, Melanie, Angela, and Kimberly, as well as by his sister-in-law Penny Duffield and husband David Lloyd. Predeceased and reunited with his father and mother; William and Dorothea (Slack) Schofield.
John was a software architect for many years and in retirement, was a writer of Thriller novels under the pseudonym Clay Farrow. He had a passion for travelling with his beloved Phyllis, enjoyed playing tennis with family and friends and enjoyed swimming.
On behalf of John’s family, a special thank you to Dr, Julie Maidment, Dr. Jade Coyne, Meghan Tanner, his nurse of 4 years, Dianne Wilkenson and Sara Elinsky, his care coordinators from the Waterloo Wellington who have shown John and Phyllis, care, and compassion during his medical journey.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted on John’s behalf to The Canadian Cancer Society or to the Cancer Clinic at the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener.
