It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Buckle, of St. John’s, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the age of 81. John was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Katherine (Kit) Buckle, and his wife of forty-five years, Anne (nee Beresford).
Mourning his loss are his son, John (Andrea), his daughter, Amanda Zimmerman, his grandchildren, Riley and Owen Buckle, Noah, Isabella and Alexandra Zimmerman, his sister, Eileen (Gordon) MacNab, his sister-in-law, Eileen (Vic) Young, brothers-in-law, Phil (Nina) Beresford, Frank (Gladys) Beresford, Jim (Rose, deceased) Beresford, and Gerry (Ann) Beresford, and his dear friend and companion, Judy Barry. Also mourning his loss are his many nieces and nephews, members of the Buckle, Dwyer, Beresford, Cain and MacNab families and many old and dear friends, including the St. Bon’s Old Boys.
John was a gentle man with a big smile and a heart to match. His pleasures were simple ones; he loved his family and took enormous pride in their many accomplishments; he loved his garden, he loved to ski, he loved to dance and he loved to spend time on the barrens and on the salmon rivers with his buddies. He took great pleasure in his wide circle of friends, many of whom are the friends of a lifetime. John was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
John’s family would like to thank the staff of Chancellor Park for their exceptional care and kindness over the past months. It has been appreciated.
Cremation has taken place.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm.
Funeral Mass to take from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
