Passed away peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital at the age of 71, after a year-long battle with cancer. Former owner and operator of Balsam Resort in Rosedale – a business started by his parents and lovingly continued by himself and Judy. John attended Fenelon Falls Secondary School and Loyalist College and spent the majority of his life residing in Rosedale on the shores of Balsam Lake. John loved airplanes and flying, waterskiing and sailing. He was also a fine cook.
Loving father of Carly of Fenelon Falls, Emily (Andrew) of Peterborough and predeceased by his youngest daughter Marcie (2021). John is survived by his wife, Judy of Fenelon Falls.
Dear brother of Nan Beall-Fahlman (Greg) of Victoria, Ron (Elin) of Vancouver and Moya (David Robertson) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Hugo and Lucille Beall.
Uncle to Chris and Shannon Fahlman, Brendan Robertson, Chris (Mercy) Lough, Kevin Lough and predeceased by Colin Lough.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12th from 4-6pm at Mackey Funeral Home in Lindsay. There will be a private family graveside service at Riverside Cemetery.
The family would like to thank his nurse, Ashley and PSW, Pam for all their compassion and care through his fight with cancer. Special thanks also to the Kawartha Lakes Paramedics, the Palliative Care staff at RMH and Doctors Mark and Mervyn Stone.
In lieu of flowers, John asked that donations be made to the Marcie Beall Scholarship Fund at BGC Kawarthas or the Social Justice Award in memory of Marcie at Fenelon Falls Secondary School, or made to the City of Kawartha Lakes United Way Community Garden Fund. Donations and condolences may be made through Mackey Funeral Home via cheque.
