John was born in Stockton England. He and Yvonne married in 1964 and emigrated to Kimberley in 1966. He worked for Cominco in Kimberley and at Polaris NWT. He saw most of the world either in the merchant marine or in travels later in life. He taught Judo to many young people and was very proud of his Black Belt. John was a generous man who had many friends.
He loved fishing, hunting, photography and playing cards. He was devoted to his dogs often driving to town and picking up a steak to cook for them. He designed and built his own house and was proud of the work he did as a millwright.
He never liked the way obituaries made people sound perfect so it should be known that he could be opinionated, a bit stubborn and his driving left something to be desired.
Predeceased by his wife Yvonne. Survived by his sister Ann, son Jonathan (Sheila), daughter Tiffany Braun (Lenoard) and son Patrick (Jennifer). Grandchildren Zoe (Jacob) Hall, Colin (Sarah) Hall, Cara-Joy (Matt) Bauer, Erienne, Aquinna, Fiona, Mallory, Caroline and Brighdie. And great-grandson Montgomery.
Thanks to all the doctors, the staff at Joseph Creek and Garden View for treating him well in his journey through dementia.
A small gathering will be held in the summer.
