John Alexander Taylor

Peacefully at King’s County Memorial Hospital in
Montague, Prince Edward Island on Thursday, October 27, 2022 John
Taylor of Burnside Home in Clyde River, formerly of Parry Sound
Ontario aged 87, beloved husband of Emily (nee Clark). Devoted father
of Clark Taylor (Shoshana) of Toronto and Pamela (Craig) Bissonette of
Rice Point.

Calgary and adored great-grampy to Maddie and Sawyer.
John was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on February 14,
1935. John immigrated to Canada in 1956 and his beloved Emily joined
him a year later after finishing her nurses training. Together they
began their married life adventure and started a family. John was a
machinist by trade and worked for a couple of years at Avro Canada in
Toronto, on the now infamous Avro Arrow aircraft right up until the
project was scrapped in February of 1959.
John then went on
to work at the University of Toronto as a machinist/locksmith and then
on to the new campus of York University, North York. John retired from
York U as Superintendent of Building Maintenance Department of
Physical Plant in 1986.
John was predeceased by
his parents John A. Taylor and Gladys (Ryder) Taylor and all of his
siblings, James, Irene, Rhoda, Patricia, and Phillip Taylor
(Margaret). Also predeceased by brother-in-law George Clark (Margaret)
, sister-in-law Margaret (George) Leslie
John
and Emily enjoyed many wonderful retirement years of travel, winters
in their Florida home and at their home in Parry Sound Ontario before
moving to Prince Edward Island to be near their daughter Pam and
son-in-law Craig. John was a very clever craftsman who handily built
many things including decks, docks, boats and furniture over the
years. John was an avid sailor and kept his own 22 ‘ sailboat moored
in Parry Sound on the shores of Georgian Bay. An active outdoorsman in
his day and a very keen gardener, John always kept himself busy.
A long time volunteer in every community he called home,
John could always be counted on to serve others.
John will be dearly missed by his beloved Emily, children,
grandchildren, and nieces and nephews abroad, and the many many
friends he made along the way.
Funeral
arrangements entrusted to Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral
Home. Cremation to take place immediately. No visitation or funeral
service by personal request. There will be a private celebration of
life gathering at a later date.
John’s family
wish to thank the medical teams at both the QEH in Charlottetown and
the KCMH in Montague for their kind and compassionate care of John
during his brief illness.
