Johannes Jan Wilhelmus van de Moosdyk 2022

Passed away peacefully at Hope Street Terrace on Tuesday May 3, 2022 in his 89th year with the love of his family. Jan was born on July 24, 1933 in Eindhoven, Holland. He immigrated to Toronto Canada in 1956. In 1961 he married Joan Louise (Henn) and soon afterwards started a family with son’s Jeff and Jody. Throughout his career he worked at Bata and Philips, in Holland. Then in Canada he worked at American Motors, Sears, Winchester and the Northumberland Newcastle Board of Education. He enjoyed gardening, making beer, collecting sports memorabilia and swimming. Jan enjoyed travel with his family to Florida, Holland and Europe. He loved entertaining and thoroughly enjoyed get togethers and family outings, especially when his grandchildren were involved. He was predeceased by his parents; Wilhelmus Jacobus van de Moosdijk and Geertruida Margaretha (Huigen), siblings Anna Johanna Greta and Lambertus (Bart) Kelch and Wilhelmus (Wim) and Geertruida (Truis) Wilhelmina Maria (Scheepers) van de Moosdijk. Jan is survived by Jeff, Robin, Anna van de Moosdyk and Tracey Thomas, Jody and Ian van de Moosdyk, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed. There will be a visitation held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Tuesday May 10 from 1 – 3 pm. A burial service will be held at Colborne East Cemetery on Wednesday May 11 at 1 pm. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so to the charity of their choice.
