Putting pen to paper and writing about the loss of my husband, the love of my life is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. It is with unbearable sadness that I share the news that Jody has passed away.
Jody was many roles to many people. First and foremost, his biggest and proudest honour is being the DAD to Wolfgang and Sebastian. Wolfie & Seb are his greatest joys, center of his universe and the light that guided him.
Jody was a son(in-law), brother (in-law), nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. If you were one of the blessed people in his life you would know that those roles meant the world to him as his soul was full of compassion & love. With Jody, the “in-law” was removed. He was another son; another brother and friends were family.
Jody’s passions and talents ranged from drawing and painting to playing guitar and body building. Jody will live on through Wolfgang in his newfound love for guitar and Sebastian for his skilled artistic ability. Jody accomplished his goal of competing in bodybuilding, once again, at the age of 51 years old. His perseverance and determination were rewarded with not one, but three medals at the VDC Classic.
Jody’s career has included MCI, WPG Transit and NFI. His friend groups had grown exponentially. Jody was always saying ” Oh my friend….” with pride.
Jody and I had just started our Indigenous journey together. We were honoured to be welcomed with open arms into this newly found family that has guided us with love. We experienced our first sweat lodge, received our Ojibwe names and clan, and began learning about his heritage.
Jody was my husband, my life, my love . He gave me more than I could have ever imagined or dreamed of. I was blessed with 8 years with this extraordinary man by my side and 5 years of a beautiful marriage. Jody was my happy place.
Jody, nassa zaaga igan naabe, you are with the Creator now. It was too soon my love. I wanted 50 years. I am blessed that we found each other those 8 short years ago. I will hold you and live with you in my heart for the rest of my life.
