Obituary of Joan May Kersey
Taken from us far too soon, Joan May Kersey, 83, of Strathroy Ontario, passed away June 8th, 2022, with her husband by her side.
She was born to the late Howard and Camilla Meadows, May 26th, 1939, of Arkona, Ontario. Predeceased by her brother John (Donnalee) Meadows, sister June (Dave) Butchart, her son James Howard Stephenson and two great grandchildren.
Survived by her husband Carl Kersey, sisters Joyce (Ian) Runnalls, Janet (George) Richards. Beloved mother to John (Val) Stephenson, Janice (Walt) Salandziak, Judy (Norm) Gratton, Joe (Heather) Stephenson, Jeff Stephenson, Lisa Snelgrove, Melody (Patrick) Kepke. Doting grandmother to Toni, Rob, Ryan, Amy, Cody, Steven, Shawn, Stacey, Mason, Kaitlyn, Iseabaila, Liam, Tiffany, Karrielynn, Jessica. Will also be missed by many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Former Healthcare Aide at North Lambton Lodge, she dedicated her time to caring for the elderly until her retirement where she spent her days caring for and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren to the very end. Couch coach for the Toronto Blue Jays – time for a 3rd championship Jays!!
Not wanting to be the centre of attention and following her wishes Joan has been cremated, with a Celebration of Life to follow later.
In lieu of flowers we ask that friends and family wishing to honour Joan are invited to donate in her name to Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, or donation of choice. Online donations and condolences may be left at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 2nd floor nurses at Strathroy Middle General Hospital, for all the care and attention they provided Joan and family during her last days with us.
