Joan Rouse Wednesday January 12th 2022

~~~~~~~~~
It is with great sadness we share that Joan passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022. She was born in Prescott on July 22, 1941 to Allen and Victoria Hill (Campbell). Predeceased in 2007 by the love of her life, Arthur Rouse. She leaves behind her sister June Usher and brother Elton Hill (Shirley). Predeceased by siblings Bruce Hill, Mary Simpson, Charles Hill, Fay Leeder and Nellie Moore. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Cherished friend of Alberdina Edwards.
Her working career included Phillips Cables, McCrea’s Wholesale and Johnson & Bloy. When Art’s career took them to Regina she became Office Manager of the YMCA, a job she enjoyed immensely. Joan was presented the Community Service Award in 1978 by the City of Regina in recognition of outstanding volunteer work. She received the Maple Leaf Award from the Jaycettes in 1981.
Upon returning to the area and settling in Maitland, she became actively involved again in St. Paul’s Anglican Church. She and Art were enthusiastic members of the Brockville Yacht Club. She reminisced frequently about extended sailing trips on their boat Prairie Wildfire. She was a crafter and Red Hatter.
Passionate about gardening, she was proud of the results of her labour. Joan was always happy to share a glass of wine with family and friends, on her deck or in her gazebo, as they admired her beautiful gardens. She liked to entertain, especially on holidays and birthdays.
Joan loved life, and made friends wherever she worked, volunteered, played or lived. She will be remembered for her warm smile, sparkling blue eyes, fun-loving nature, and outgoing personality. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of everyone she touched.
Family and friends are invited to a service in honour and celebration of Joan’s life at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 12 Pine Street, Brockville on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2 pm followed by a reception in the church hall.
NOTE: Proof of vaccination will be required for attendance and the reception is limited to 50 guests that must pre-register. RSVP below or call Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville at 613-342-2828, to register.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.
Send condolences or share a special thought of Joan on the Memory Wall above.
