Joan Roberta Costie (Caldwell)

Passed away peacefully, as she wished, in her former matrimonial home surrounded by her loving family and husband of 69 years, H. John Costie.
Predeceased by her parents William and Florence Caldwell, sisters Mabel (Graham) Scaife, Edna (George) Martin, and Margaret (John) Maxted.
She will be greatly missed by her children John, Laura (David), Mark (Caren), Diana (Bruno), Gordon (Susan), and Brian (Adelle).
She was affectionately known as Nana and Great Nana to all her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Joan and John enjoyed a special love story which spanned seven decades of married life together which now seems only like the passing of wind on your cheek. Mom loved to regale, she and Dad were coincidentally in St Joseph Hospital Nursery in 1934 together, resulting in a serendipitous journey of life which lasted 88 years.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, (947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, ON) on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm. A Family Service to begin at 1 pm, followed by Reception.
On behalf of the Family, we would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at both Hagersville and Norfolk General Hospitals. As well as, the special Palliative Care Team, of Manuel, Terri, and Ashley who provided the utmost compassion and care to our Mother. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. Donations can be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation – Hamilton Health Sciences.
