Joan Olive Bennett
Carleton Place Citizen of the Year 2015
1945 – 2022
Peacefully at Lanark Lodge on October 9, 2022 at the age of 77. She is predeceased by her loving husband Robert “Bob” Bennett. Joan is survived by her beloved children Joanne (Ken Johnson), Jennifer (Chi Binh La) and Rob Barber (Christina). She will be remembered fondly by her siblings; David (Lorna), Dawn (Willy), John (Linda) and Ian as well as many nieces and nephews. She is a proud Nana of Joshua, Sydney, Connor, Thomas, Addison, Alexis, Jasmine, Kingston and Haven.
Joan loved her family, her community in Carleton Place, nursing, watching hockey, good hugs and a quiet chat at the kitchen table during a big family gathering. She had a fantastic sense of humour and gave back to her community as much as anyone ever could. She was an indomitable spirit who will be missed immensely.
Friends may support the family at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Thursday, October 13, 2022 for a visitation from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Inurnment to follow at United Cemeteries.
