Joan Frances James (Cochrane)
April 12, 1927 – January 31, 2022
JAMES, Joan Frances (Cochrane)(April 12, 1927 – January 31, 2022) – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joan James of St. John’s and Brigus, at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Kavanagh) Cochrane of York St.
Predeceased by her husband Thomas Patrick James in 1986. Also predeceased by her brothers William and Kevin and sisters Phyllis Perlman and Ruth. Leaving to mourn her children: Bonnie (Jim Miller), Barrie (Claudette), Byron (Cathy Walsh-James), Bridgette Hamilton (Wayne), Blair (Denise Guevremont), Barbara Scaplen (Brian) and Belinda (Jeffrey Imai); 13 grandchildren: Bryan James, Carla James, Andrea Gvora, Christopher James, Blair James, Beth Hamilton, Brent Hamilton, Alex James, Margaux Morgante, Phil James, Bailey Scaplen, Benjamin Scaplen, Brittany Scaplen and their spouses; 10 great-grandchildren: Aspen, Ella, Hannah, Henry, Sadie, Blake, Adele, Hugo, John James and Lyla; and she was Aunt Joan to a large number of nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Elaine Yetman, Agnes Stack and Judy Burke for their great friendship over the years. Thank you as well to the staff of Kenny’s Pond Retirement Living and Dr. Patrick O’Shea. Funeral service to take place form Caul’s Chapel on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00am. Due to government regulations the visitation and funeral service will be by invite only, however for those who wish to attend the service virtually, it will be livestreamed at: vimeo.com/event/1786049.
