On August 16, 2022 Mom went home to be reunited with Dad after a three year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Magog Quebec on September 2, 1934. Mom moved to Mississauga, Ayr and finally settled in Galt Ontario (Cambridge). Mom was the daughter of Germaine and George Hallam and one of five siblings. William who passed in infancy, a sister, Ellen (Alvin) Poll, a brother, Reg (Janice) Hallam, and second brother, Lance (Joan) Hallam. From a young age mom worked hard at Penman’s in Paris and then Scroggins Shoes in Cambridge (Galt). Even though Mom had to leave school young she continued to be devoted to learning. An avid reader and a local historian she recorded all the trips she and Dad travelled on. Creating scrapbooks full of notes and photos and with many memories that were always tying into the local history and culture of where they had been. A huge fan of the Royal family she kept up on all the Royal Family history and sometimes a bit of the Royal Family gossip. She also loved to sew and knit and made the most beautiful sweaters. Mom devoted years of service to the Catholic Women’s League as well St. Vincent de Paul supporting the local community through St. Ambrose Church. She lived for her family and was deeply committed too so many children and grandchildren. Mom and Dad were married in 1955. Her family grew to include a Mother-in-law Annie Jewell who Mom just loved to cook with. A brother- in-law Stan (Jean) Jewell. A sister-in-law Winnie (Len) Crombie. Mom and Dad bought a home in Cambridge and started their own family Robert Jewell (deceased), Catherine (Jim) Fleischhauer, Gary (Susan) Jewell and Barbara (Gerry) Morton. Through the years their family kept growing, 14 grandchildren David (Tammy) Jewell, Paul Jewell, Brad (Marilyn) Jewell, Renee (John) Strong, Bobby (Courtney) Jewell, Jeremy (Rachael) Morton, Jenn (Shawn) Claridge, Christopher Morton, Sherri (deceased) Fleischhauer, Amanda (Spencer) Dale, Allison (Gus) Jewell, Sarah Jewell, Ivan (Ashley) Biarozkin, Irina Berezkina Great grandchildren Dorian, Hanna, Emily, Nico, Lydia, Liam, Grace, Olivia, Hudson, Hailey, Pearson, Kyra, MacKenzie, Kel, Great Grandchildren Milo, Violet, Ivey, Valen and Aralon. Mom and Dad enjoyed Sixty Six years of marriage. Visitation will be at Corbett’s Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 7:00-9:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Ambrose Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Mount View Cemetery.
