Obituary of Jim Zimmer
Passed away at Hospice Peterborough on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the age of 75. Jim will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 50 years, Ailsa (née Stoneman) and his children, Cindy Zimmer and Colin Zimmer. Brother of Gail, Mary, and Terrance. Predeceased by his parents, Erwin and Catherine (née Cascanette) Zimmer and siblings; June, David, Jane, Glen, Louis, and Thomas. He will be remembered by his extended family and friends.
Born and raised in Pointe au Baril, Jim had a natural affinity for the water and spent 5 years in the Canadian Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a Master Marine Mechanic (Mercury and OMC) since 1972, and for the last 25 years as the owner/operator of Zim’s Marine Services in Buckhorn. Jim loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting, boating, or just walking in the bush. Family was important to him and he loved holidays with his children. He was a huge Habs (Montreal Canadiens) fan and loved to talk about hockey. Jim was very social and like playing cards in his community, was an OFAH member, and enjoyed exploring Canada with his wife. He will be greatly missed.
As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
