Jim Tower 2022

Jim’s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Robert Tower announce his peaceful passing at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. He was born in Springhill as the middle boy of three to Robert and Marilyn (Kimberly) Tower.Survived by his mother, Marilyn; Beloved brother to David (Cheryl) Tower and Reg (Barb) Tower; Loving uncle to Jessica (Jordan McCracken) Tower and Cameron (Maya Fillmore) Tower.
Predeceased by his father, Robert; Brother in infancy, Chris; Aunt and Uncle, Marg and Sonny Tower.
Jim had a smile that could light up a room, and a twinkle in his eye that no other can replicate. With a heart of gold, he was loved by those who knew him. Growing up, Jimmy made a lot of fond memories that he kept near and dear to his heart with his cousins, Philip, Bill and Marliese. As a lover of technology, he started his own business in the mid-80s as a TV and stereo repair man, appropriately named Jim’s TV and Stereo. Starting out in a trailer by the house on Beckwith, they later moved to Pugwash to expand (twice!). Even before his repairman days, and for many years following he was a long-time employee at Oxford Frozen Foods. He had a love for rock n’ roll music, his motorcycle, and any sports car that went fast. The faster, the better in his opinion.
Like his father, in the later years of his life he was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease and has been graciously dealing with the hand he was dealt. There was never a day we would not see a smile on his face despite the mounting difficulties he faced. As hard and difficult as his days have been, he never let it show. His kind and positive nature towards other people was contagious.
A huge heartfelt thank you goes out to the care team at the East Cumberland Lodge, they have gone above and beyond the call of duty to give him exemplary care, respect and dignity he deserved for the last few years of his life. He appreciated every single one of you, more than words could express, and we thank you. A special thank you goes to the VON care nurses as well, for their years of care and dedicated service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Huntington’s Society of Canada or the East Cumberland Lodge in his name. In keeping with Jimmy’s helpful nature and to further his legacy, his brain has been donated to the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank to further the research in Huntington’s Disease and in hopes that even one person might benefit from it.
Rock on, Jim. We love you, xo.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford.
