Jim Kuzyk 2022

Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late James (Jim) Kuzyk of Canora, SK, announce his passing at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on June 29, 2022, at the age of 67 years.
Jim Wilfred Kuzyk was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, on March 16, 1955. When he was little, Jim’s family moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where he attended all his school years. After he graduated, Jim worked for a trucking company, called Motorways. In 1981, he bought his own semi and worked for Rueben Transport out of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He also worked with Tri-Line Freight of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as helping on the family farm.
Jim married Colleen Ostafie in 1983. Shortly after, they were blessed with two beautiful children. They resided in Canora until 1991, and then moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
In 1988, Jim accepted employment with Canadian National Railways, where he worked until his retirement in 2020. Jim was extensively involved as the local union president with UTU, which later became Teamsters.
Jim loved camping with his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also participated in the Nipawin fishing tournaments with his cousins, Tom and Rod, for numerous years.
Jim became a Gido to Emerson, who was the light of his life. He was a devoted son, especially to his mom, and was there for her until the end. With his smart and witty remarks, he was the “life of the party” and his humour will be dearly missed.
Jim was predeceased by his father, John Kuzyk; and his brother, Randy.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Jayleen and Daniel (Jessica); grandchild, Emerson; mother, Olga; brother, Walter (Margaret); sister, Deb; niece, Samantha and his nephew, Lance.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Canora, Saskatchewan, with Very Rev. Fr, Joakim Rac officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic (Antoniwka) Cemetery, north of Canora, Saskatchewan.
