Obituary
Surrounded by his family, Jim passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2022 in the Sir Thomas Roderick Hospital at the age of 92. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Marie (House) Shears; his four daughters, Marilyn Moulton, Alva (Fred) White , Faith (Paul) Gallant, and Paula (John) Lush; grandchildren, Tracy Umlah, Toby Maxwell, Tina Gallant, Stephanie Wambolt, James Gallant, Jeremy White, Danielle White, Mark Gallant, Dominic Carroll, Jessica McArthur, as well as 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Georgina and Arthur Shears.
Jim served in the Royal Canadian Regiment and was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean war. When the war ended, he returned to his hometown of Robinsons where he met his wife, Marie at a dance in Jeffreys. Jim enjoyed playing cards, especially when there was a wager to be won. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, socializing and would indulge in a glass or two of Rye on occasion. Jim had thirteen siblings and he loved to tell stories from growing up on the family farm in Robinsons. Jim had a boisterous and infectious laugh which will always be remembered.
The Funeral will take place at St. Augustine’s Anglican church at 55 Hillview Ave, in Stephenville at 2pm on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Ukrainian Relief Fund or any charity of your choice.
