Obituary
Hanley, Jim, passed away peacefully at the Southampton Hospital on Thursday June 9, 2022 at the age of 92. Dear husband to his loving wife Marion Hanley (nee Girdwood) for 69 years. Sadly missed by his niece Elizabeth Girdwood, his nephews Scott (Jennifer) Polmans and Andrew (Kadin) Polmans, and by his great niece Aria and great nephew Indy.
In his native Scotland, he is survived by his brother Richard, sisters Annette and Patricia, their families and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is predeceased by his parents James & Margaret (nee Murphy), by his son Jim (2002), and by his brother Eddie (2015).
Jim emigrated to Canada in 1957 and worked at Fitton Parker Furniture and later he joined Ontario Hydro where he worked for 18 years until he retired in 1990 at the of 60. Jim got to enjoy 30 plus years of retirement, he golfed and loved to fish and travel to many wonderful places. He had a good life. He will be sadly missed and loved forever.
A Graveside Service for Jim Hanley will be held at the Southampton Cemetery on Wednesday June 15, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
