Obituary of Jerra Lynn Anderson
Jerra Lynn (Jerrie) Anderson, 73 years, of St. Thomas, ON passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2022, from injuries after an accident at home earlier in the week. Her loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Richard; by her daughters, Jennifer and Christine (Jason); by her grandchildren Julia and Ivy; by her siblings Lynda, Diane, and Richard; and by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerra was born to Margaret & John Goatbe in Windsor, and attended Vincent Massey High School. She met her future husband, Richard while working as a rollerskating waitress at A&W, and married in 1970.
She began her work career as an x-ray technologist in Detroit, eventually leaving the workforce to devote herself to full-time motherhood. When her kids reached their teens, she returned to the workforce in the ladies’ fashion department at Eatons, helping women look confident, beautiful and stylish.
Her hobbies included knitting, tole painting, and pottery. She left city life with Richard in their retirement years in order to raise and breed alpacas on a small farm outside of Tillsonburg. In addition to meeting many other alpaca breeders at Alpaca Association events, she demonstrated a talent for animal handling and running the farm retail store.
Jerra had many endearing qualities, but most of all, her giving and loving nature towards her family, friends and everyone that came to know her. Jerra’s final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation.
Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Jerra’s life will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). Details will be announced once confirmed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jerra’s memory to your local Alzheimer’s Society.
