Jerome Green Monday February 14 2022

GREEN, Jerome (Jack) – Passed away peacefully and comfortably at the age of 95 in the early hours of February 14th. Beloved and passionately devoted husband of the late Irene, his wife of 69 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Marla (Tom) and Robert (Kelly), grandfather of Nathaniel (Rae) and Meghan (Brian), and great grandfather of Anne, Matteo, Felix and Cary. Jack was blessed growing up with two lively and artistically talented sisters, the late Nita Corinblit and Sally Sanfield, who survives him and remains an inspirational force in all of our lives. A loving uncle to Karen, Randi, David, Joel, Meryl, Barbara and Nancy. Jack was a kind, gentle, patient and giving man – a perfectionist and a consummate gentleman, with an innate mechanical and problem-solving talent. Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 24, 1926, Jack served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He met his wife Irene, the love of his life, shortly after the war. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jack owned and operated a successful service station and auto repair business in the Palmer Woods area of Detroit. He treated all his customers as though they were family – from the Motown celebrities who frequented his business, to neighbourhood shop keepers. In 1968, Jack sold his business, and he and Irene moved to Toronto, Irene’s hometown. Jack searched for new business opportunities in Toronto, but in the end, chose to start up a service station/auto repair business. Jack could repair anything mechanical and would not consider a task done properly unless it was patiently completed to his own standard of perfection, and then only after checking the final product once to make sure it was working properly and then a second time to make sure that he checked it the first time. In their retirement years, Jack and Irene enjoyed time spent travelling, taking long walks (always holding hands), enjoying family, friends and the arts. As a couple, they were true soul mates, exemplary in their deep mutual adoration, love, caring and respect for each other – so fitting that they were reunited for eternity on Valentine’s Day. Jack will be greatly missed – everyone who knew him, adored him. We want to sincerely thank the thoughtful and caring team of care workers and health support professionals that made his later years as comfortable as humanly possible – Dr. Kim Panovka, Zoe Levitt, Kathleen, Kelvin, Caroline, Genie, Beybi and Juval – the family is deeply, emotionally indebted to them. The family also wants to thank the caring and professional team of doctors and nursing staff at Toronto General Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at Bridgepoint Hospital, where Jack spent his final days. Respecting Jack’s wishes, and given the times, the funeral arrangements will be limited to a family graveside service to be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022, where Jack and Irene will lay in peace and in eternal love side by side.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jerome Green Monday February 14 2022..
