It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jennifer “Jenni” Michelle Le Forestier at Mount Sinai Hospital on December 9, 2022 at the age of 48. Precious daughter of Janine Le Forestier and Cameron Ansell and sister to her devoted brother Christopher (Gwendolen). Beloved wife to Alistair Sumner and mother to her most treasured daughter Josephine. She will be missed by so many including her stepsisters, Susan, Debbie, Pamela and Barbara and large extended family and so many more friends too numerous to mention. Jenni was a fierce community leader, and activist, avid hiker, music teacher, and third degree black belt in Aikido. But of all her achievements, it was the one of mother that she was most proud.
Jenni moved to Belfountain with her family over a decade ago. She applied her outstanding musical talent guiding countless students on a fullfilling musical journey. She has not stopped serving the communities of Dufferin-Caledon since. Holding governments to account, she was past president of the Belfountain Community Organization and served on the Town of Caledon Heritage Committee. Over the years, Jenni has worked tirelessly to protect the beautiful landscapes we call home, building movements against projects threatening water, farmland, and heritage.
Jenni was a fierce and active contributor in the many environmental groups she worked with including Gravel Watch Ontario, the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition, the Peel Enviro Hub, the Coalition for the West Credit River, and the Stop the 413 and Stop Sprawl movements. She formed the Dufferin Caledon EnviroPress Desk to create media awareness of the many environmental issues impacting her community. She was the 2021 Green Party candidate for Dufferin-Caledon.
Jenni had a great love of horses and was an avid rider. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Horse Defence Coalition or to one of the many organizations that Jenni was so passionate about.
A funeral service for family and close friends will be held in the Chapel of Skinner & Middlebrook Ltd, 128 Lakeshore Rd. E (1 block west of Hurontario St.), Mississauga (parking off Ann St.), on the 16th of December 2022 followed by burial at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Caledon.
