Obituary
On January 3rd, 2022, our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, friend, and mentor was ushered into presence of her dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Jennie was born in Holwerd Friesland one of twelve children to Joh and Aafke Bosgra. Growing up she witnessed firsthand the effects of war and in particular the German Invasion of Holland. In 1951, the family immigrated to southern Alberta and soon after Jennie joined her siblings working long hours in the beet fields.
At the age of 16, Jennie took a job at the Turner Valley Hospital, and it was there that she met the love of her life Walter Brown, and on November 25th, 1955, they were married.
Jennie loved and served the Lord with her whole heart. She walked the walk and left a profound impact on many people. It didn’t matter where, when, or who, Jennie was happy to share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though her mind had become clouded with Alzheimer’s, the staff at the Seasons in High River often shared how “Momma Jennie” would pray for them. She was a gifted Sunday school teacher, bible study leader, president of the Women’s Society of Alberta, and along with Walter, helped many people come to sobriety through AA.
Jennie was predeceased by her beloved Walter in 2005, along with many friends and family members. She is survived by her daughters Carol (Clarence), Byma, Diana (John) Gerlitz and her sons Jim (Sharon) Brown, and Gerald (Deanna) Brown, 13 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. Without compromise she loved everyone of them.
A private family gathering will be held. Arrangements are in care of Snodgrass Funeral Home, Okotoks.
