Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Bluewater Health, Jelle Johannes “Jack” Wildschut went home to be with his Lord at the age of 72. Beloved husband and best friend of Jeanette (nee Huizinga), creating 49 loving years together. Loving father of Mark (Kristine), Stephen (Louisa), and Lee-Anne. Cherished grandfather of Tristan, Julia, Samantha, Jakob, Miah, Charlize, Ariah, and Zoe, Elijah, Trinity. Dear brother of Arnie (Betty), Louis (Theresa), Hank (Annette), Joanne Wildschut. Cherished brother-in-law of Chuck (Susan), Margaret (Stuart), and Leona (Rusty). Jack is survived by many nieces and nephews. Jack is predeceased by his parents Stuart and Trijntje Wildshchut and parents-in-law Charlie and Lee Huizinga.
Jack’s life was surrounded by colour and life in the form of plants. His playfulness, and grounding presence was a blessing to those who were lucky enough to be around him. His work ethic astounded most and inspired many. A talented horticulturalist, an avid reader, Sudoku aficionado, hockey coach extraordinaire, cadet counselor, a church elder, and traveller, Jack’s calling to make the earth beautiful in every way was clear. Jack’s faith was steadfast in all of life’s seasons.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church, 1281 Exmouth St., Sarnia, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sarnia Christian School, and St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
