Death Notice
BARKER, Jeff – Peacefully at the McCormick Home, with family at his side, on Friday, January 21, 2022, Jeffrey Alan Barker of London in his 75th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife Christine and children Justin and Jessica (Chris Kocur). Dear brother of Janis (John Irwin), Susan (Bob Martin), Steven (Patti Morrison), and Lori Millson, and brother-in-law of Frank Pellow (Margaret), and the late Bruce and John Pellow. Also missed by Gail Pellow, Lorna Froste, his many nieces and nephews and innumerable good friends around the world.
Jeff was born to Bernice and Walter Barker on May 16, 1947. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1972, with degrees in Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
Jeff loved to explore and discover and his life was guided by the pursuit of his dreams. His travels around the world with Christine were full of adventure, as he embraced diverse cultures and natural wonders, travelling in a VW van, camping or backpacking. He developed a deep appreciation and respect for the beauty of nature, experienced on numerous camping and canoe trips, hikes and while SCUBA diving or sailing his catamaran. A restless inventor, he built and flew his own airplane, and he was a gifted woodworker and photographer. Jeff had an artistic side as well, creating a remarkable collection of ceramic masks and turned wooden bowls, paintings and poetry.
Jeff’s career in chemical and environmental engineering was fairly brief, as he also enjoyed success with real estate. He was a skilled builder and a talented designer, renovating homes in London and Toronto. He built cherished vacation properties in Mexico and Muskoka, where countless special times were spent with family and friends.
Visitation by appointment on Friday, January 28 from 3-5 pm at Harris Funeral Home where a private service will be conducted on Saturday at 2 pm.
