Obituary of Jean Shirley Collins
It is with great sadness that the family announce the unexpected passing of Jean Shirley Collins, 79, of Garnett Settlement on August 12, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on May 2, 1943 in Fairfield, NB, she was the eldest daughter to the late David and Grace (Brown) Weston.
Jean loved to garden, quilt and was a faithful member of the Garnett Settlement Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the ladies Guild and sang in the choir.
Jean is survived by her children Kristen (Chris) Garnett of Garnett Settlement, Bradley (Shelly) of Baxters Corner, Heather (Donnie) Logan of Garnett Settlement, Brent (Shannon) of Saint John and honorary son Collin Lamont of Garnett Settlement; her grandchildren, Justin (Shelby), Trevor (Kaylee), Amanda, Kristy (Nathan), Mackenzie, Ellie and Grace; her great-grand daughter Rylee; her siblings Ann (Doug) Dallon and Brian (Carol) Weston both of Fairfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband John Arthur Collins, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Heather (Collins) March of Fairfield and her in-laws Arthur and Bertha (Starrack) Collins of Tynemouth Creek.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 2-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow at Brown’s Cemetery in Bains Corner. For those who wish, donations in Jean’s memory can be made to the Gideon’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.www.BrenansFH.com.
