Jeannette Marguerite Lazar October 24 1944 November 7 2022 (age 78)

Obituary
In memory of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Marguerite died peacefully in her sleep in her family home in Sorrento, BC, at the age of 78. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Mark Lazar and her children with the Late Taras (Tar) Decyk; Omelan and wife Tara; Larissa and husband Bill; and Kira and husband Nam. Also by her stepchildren with Mark Lazar, Ben, Aaron, Jael and Danica. She was a proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren, whom she spoiled. Marguerite was born in the township of Tiny in Simcoe, Ontario in 1944. She is the eldest daughter in a large family. Her parents were Philbert Marion and Jeannette Marion. She is survived by her siblings Andy, Irene, Julianne, Cecile and Louise and her predeceased siblings, Robert, Jules, Suzanne and Venard.
Marguerite loved being outside. She was an expert gardener, who, with her husband Mark, produced enough food to pass on to neighbors, friends and family. She was known for carefully preparing meals, canned goods, drying, fermenting, pickling and being surrounded by bountiful food. She loved the joy of a sun ripened tomato and would climb to the top of a tree to get a perfectly pink apricot. She regularly showed up at people’s houses with boxes of fruit and produce, jars of jam and her own apple cider vinegar. Giving to others was a great joy in her life.
Marguerite’s career, working for the Skimikin Seed Orchard, also brought her great joy. She loved the people she worked with, and after 21 years, reluctantly retired at the age of 72. Her coworkers remember her as a relentless hard worker with an infectious laugh.
Marguerite loved a good adventure. She liked a robust hike to the top of the mountain or a paddle on a lake. She followed her children on their adventures near and far and did not shy away from driving to Bella Coola on a dangerous road, taking a float plan, road tripping to California, or flying to a tropical destination. In the last year of her life, she declared that she still wanted to hike the West Coast Trail and even bought herself a paddleboard. She simply had an unquenchable and determined spirit and the kind of grit seldom seen in humans.
Marguerite had a firm love for God. With her husband Mark, they dedicated themselves to studying and understanding the word of God. Through this study, Marguerite knew that physical life is but a fleeting moment and she understood that she would meet her savior face-to-face after the resurrection and experience love and joy and peace with him.
John 14 verse 5 – I am the way and the truth and the life
