Obituary of Jean Mary Doris Woods
Jean Woods (nee: Jean Mary Doris Pelletier)
(Oct. 2, 1926 – Dec. 25, 2021)
Beloved mother of Diane Taras (nee: Woods) and Catherine Woods. Loving grandmother to Eric and Elise Goegan. Dear aunt to nieces and nephews of the Pelletier and Pearsall families. Predeceased by loving husband Chester A. Woods; sister, Lois Pearsall, brother Paul Pelletier, and parents Geneva and Fred Pelletier. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Jean completed her nursing training at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and nursed at Sunnybrook Hospital before joining Trans- Canada Airlines (now Air Canada) as a flight attendant from 1950- 1956. She then trained 20 ladies from the Republic of Guinea to become flight attendants from 1960-61. Jean also nursed in Ottawa and in Belleville, Ontario before joining the faculty at Loyalist College in the Nursing Assistant Program (now RPN program), retiring in 1990. Jean was an avid bridge player and respected, enthusiastic volunteer at St. Thomas Anglican Church. Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Hastings Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Due to capacity limitations under the current Covid guidelines, the service and inurnment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville (613-968-2273)
