Jeanette Mary Pelletier March 24 1950March 10 2022

After a lengthy illness, on March 10, 2022, at St Boniface Hospital, Jeanette Pelletier passed away at the age of seventy-one years old. Jeanette had her family by her side as she left this earth on her journey to be with her ancestors.
She was predeceased by her mother Patrelena, grandmother Flora, sister Loraine, brother Roderick, uncle Art, cousin Dale, and nephew Joseph.
Jeanette will be sadly missed by her daughter Jean, daughter Rhonda Pelletier (Loraine Pelletier), granddaughter Marci, grandson Christian Tuckett, granddaughter Bailie Morrisseau, grandson in-law Curtis Trudeau, great granddaughter Delta Trudeau, great grandson Hudson Trudeau, brother Willard, sister in-law Florina McLean and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was born and raised in Duck Bay, Manitoba and was raised by her grandmother Flora Pelletier (nee Nepinak/Abigosis (Abigusees/Apikosis). Her lineage can be traced back to Antoine Nepinak (Manitoba Census 1838, as well as Louis Chartrand Normandie France. She attended Duck Bay Day School and had mixed feelings about the experience and chose to not speak of that time. Afterward she attended Frontier College in Cranberry Portage Manitoba. In 1967 she was required to leave Frontier College and move to Winnipeg Manitoba to be near Flora Pelletier who was admitted into St Boniface Hospital. At this time Jeanette cared for her little Brother Willard while Flora had a lengthy stay in the hospital. She found employment at G3 Limited where she worked for many years, often working late hours and on Saturdays so she can provide for her family.
Jeanette was raised to care for others and her family, and always opened her heart and door to those in need. At a young age she cared for her elderly grandmother Flora (Humma), brother Willard, brother Roderick, sister Loraine, and then raised her niece Rhonda Pelletier who she loved as a daughter. Jeanette also went on to assist in raising her nephews Sheldon, Joseph, and Nathan.
Jeanette did not have an easy life dealing with racism, intergenerational impacts of colonization, and residential day school, but her care for others was her resilience that was brighter than what she had endured. She was fluent in her language Saulteaux, and due to colonization did not pass her language on to her children or grandchildren .Thus, her language leaves this earth with her departure. She was a strong woman who was quick to anger but also quick to forgive. She inspired her daughter, as she was capable of raising children and nephews as a single mother and lived to take care of others. That strength was passed on and will live on through her family.
Mommy/Mama will be greatly missed but it is recognized that she is sitting next to her family that have went on before her, and it is a reunion in the spirit world.
