Jeanette’s Obituary
LeBlanc, Marie Jeanette – age 96, passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sluice Point on September 4th, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Germain and Frances (Surette) Pothier.
Upon finishing school, Jeanette took a stenography course at St. Ambrose Convent in Yarmouth and graduated in 1945. She worked in the law offices of W.J. Fraser and Boyd MacGillivray. She then moved to Kentville and worked at the Apple Board for six months.
She married Vincent Gualbert LeBlanc in 1948 and moved to Halifax to be with her husband who had one more year of law at Dalhousie University. In Halifax, she worked at the unemployment office and Mills Bros. When her husband finished law school, she moved back to Yarmouth and raised seven children. Jeanette adored all of her children and was always involved in and supportive of the paths they chose to follow. She was a busy mom, always cooking and baking for her family. There was never a shortage of laundry that needed to be done. When she wasn’t busy raising her children, she enjoyed playing cards with her husband and her friends, and having tea parties with her grandchildren. She loved to read and would often pass the time with a good book. She also loved to walk, and often walked the Bouleaux Road.
She is survived by her children, Mona LeBlanc, Sluice Point; Doreen (Murray) Clamp, Yarmouth; Carmel Moriarty, Porters Lake; Mark (Colette) LeBlanc, Abram’s River; Paul LeBlanc, Sluice Point, her sister Verna Taylor, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Andre, Michael, Corey, Tarek, Amber, Jeanette, Vincent, Nadine and Anique, and several great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Vincent Gualbert LeBlanc, sons, Zane (Sharon) LeBlanc and Phillip LeBlanc, siblings, Gilbert Pothier, Hector Pothier, Augusta Burke, Therese Charbonneau and Celine Hines.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 31st, from 6-7:30 p.m., with prayers at 7 p.m., in Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 1st, in Holy Family Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Father Cyrille officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
