Jean Eleanor Spencer 1931 2019

Obituary of Jean Eleanor Spencer
Jean Eleanor Spencer, 88 of Aylesford passed peacefully away on September 9, 2019 in Annapolis Community Health Centre. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Elsie (Hiltz) Barkhouse.
Jean was an avid gardener and absolutely loved being in her ‘Secret Garden’, where she enjoyed watching the birds, especially the humming birds. When the weather was too poor for her to be in the garden or watch her beloved birds, she would spend time working with her puzzles, Jean relished the idea of putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Jean was not the type to hold back her opinions, and spoke her mind freely.
She is survived by son Glenn (Margaret), Aylesford; daughters Paulette Justice, Calgary, AB; Marlene (Alfred Thibault) Spencer, Kingston; Sandra (Jim) Melanson, Halifax; brothers Gordon Barkhouse, Wolfville; Leroy Barkhouse, Wolfville; sister Barbara Barkhouse, Wolfville; grandchildren Joseph, Weldon, Derrick, Jada, Lindsay, Robbie, Valarie and James; great-grandchildren Carver, Pryia, RJ, Ethan and Lily; nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by beloved husband William “Bill”, in 2013; great-grandson Xander Thibault; son-in-law Greg Justice; brothers Weldon, Harold Jr., and Floyd “Benny” Barkhouse; sister June Arnold.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Jean’s home, 2475 Main St., Aylesford, NS. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900).
