Jean Margaret Fish (McRae)
August 9, 1931-April 15,2022
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Bayhaven Nursing Home Collingwood in her 91st year.
Forever in the hearts of her children Ivan (Benita), twins David and Dennis (Deb), Wayne (Brenda) and daughter Sandra Bonney.
Proud grandmother to Christopher, Michelle, Sarah, Caleb, Becca, Victoria, Kevin, Niki and Adam. Great Grandchildren, Damian, Lauren, Liam, Carter and Nicholas and Great Great Grandchildren, Levi and Myles.
Lovingly remembered by sister Faye Viergutz and brothers Mervin Cross and Mark Byington who she found through the miracle of DNA testing when she was 85, as well as by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
Jean is predeceased by her loving husband Clifford Fish, her dear friend John Herrebos, adoptive parents Dan and Gertrude McRae, biological parents Allan and Evelyn Cross, brother Dean Cross, sister Glenys Cross and infant grandson Morgan.
Born near Regina, Saskatchewan, Jean was a foundling, abandoned at birth. She was found in a lane by her chosen sister, best friend and namesake, Jean Corke and her dear friend Roy Burden. They reunited in 1978 when Jean was 44. Adopted at the age of one by Dan and Gertrude McRae,of New Osgoode, Saskatchewan, she met husband Clifford Fish there and moved to Collingwood and married in 1953. Together they worked at Peerless Textiles, where they met many lifelong friends.
Jean worked many jobs, but was most proud of her 45 year career as a Team Leader and Avon Representative which enabled her to spend lots of time with family. Jean was a Lifetime Member of the Connaught Home and School Association and enjoyed many conventions.
Jean will be remembered by family and friends for her adventurous spirit and kind nature. A good friend to many, she was well known for her good advice and kind heart. And especially for her love and dedication to family.
She loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures with friends, children and grandchildren. A lover of music, she attended many concerts and Saturday nights would most likely find her at a community dance with neighbours and friends.
The family is filled with gratitude for the loving, supportive volunteers and staff at Bayhaven Nursing Home for the love and care they provided.
Jean was a lifelong lover of animals (especially cats) and in remembrance donations would gladly be accepted to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
