Obituary
It is with the greatest sadness that the family of Alice Jean Thomas announce the loss of their mother at the age of 96.
Born January 16, 1926 in Kirkland, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ferne (Dickison) Gidney.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, a sister Avis, two daughters Sharon and Joyce, and a son Terry.
Survived by seven children, Irma Warren, Vivian (Ross) Belyea, Daphne (Glenwood) Watson, Ken (Lorraine), Geoffrey (Sharon), Eric (Tanya), Kevin (Sonya). Also survived by 15 grand children, Rodney, Cyndi, Jeremy, Michael, Debbie, Darren, Marsha, Shawn, Wendy, Jonathen, Ryan, Tyler, Martyna, Kurtis, and Courtney, 20 great grand children, and one great-great grandson. Several friends of her children knew her as Gram. Many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mom was a teacher for many years starting at the age of 17 in a one room school house. She taught at the Debec School, was teacher and principal of Meductic Consolidated School and taught at Southern Carleton and Woodstock Middle School. She was loved and respected by her co-workers and students.
Mom is resting at Carleton Funeral Home with visiting from 12 – 2 followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23. Masks and proof of vaccination required.
The family would like to thank the staff of Riverside Court and Carleton Manor for the care she received while she lived there.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sanctuary House or the food bank.
